Sinusitis (Sinus Infection)

A sinus infection, is a common condition that affects millions of people in India each year. The infection causes your nasal passages and sinuses to become inflamed, this inflammation is known as sinusitis.

Small air pockets located behind your forehead, nose, cheekbones and in between the eyes are called sinuses.

Sinuses produce mucus and too much of this mucus can be formed by which may block the openings of your sinuses.

Excessive formation of mucus is common if you are experiencing cold or allergies. Mucus once starts building up can encourage bacteria and other germs to build up in your sinus cavity, leading to a viral or bacterial infection.

Sinus infections which are viral most of the time can go away in a week or two without treatment.

If the symptoms which you are experiencing does not improve within 1 to 2 weeks, you should immediately schedule an appointment with us.

  • Chronic sinusitis: This type of sinusitis is often less severe, but symptoms can last more than 3 months. Chronic sinusitis might occur with persistent structural nasal problems or allergies.
